Hair Transplant Hair Restoration Results

Hair transplant results are a combination of a series of factors. As well as planning and a clear understanding of expectations between the patient and Doctor. Aspects such as graft numbers, and the average number of hairs per graft. The required hair density to be placed and the individual´s natural hair characteristics.  All are important in the makeup of hair transplant results.

Some individuals respond faster than others to achieve a large cosmetic improvement. It is natural for the new hair to grow and mature over a twelve to an eighteen-month period of time. Comparing hair transplant results to your own situation is normal. But due to the many factors in the make-up of the results they should be used as a guide. Use them as a guide and importantly to represent the quality, hairline designs, natural hair placement and hair density achieved.

Hair Treatment Results

A hair transplant is not a miracle cure for hair loss and depending on your age, hair loss stage, goals for hair restoration starting or combining a hair loss treatment with a surgical option can enhance the overall result that can be achieved.

As well as medical therapy treatments such as mesotherapy, stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP therapy) there are three FDA approved treatments and therapies for the treatment of hair loss. It must be understood results can vary from person to person, and always consult a specialist before using.

Minoxidil (Rogaine®) is a topical application applied to the scalp twice daily, 1ml each application. Available over-the-counter in 2% or 5% lotion, and now in a foam form, the active ingredient is thought to increase blood circulation locally, acting as a vasodilator.

Finasteride (Propecia®) is a tablet taken daily and acts by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the cause of male pattern hair loss. It is available only on prescription and cannot be taken by women. It slows hair loss and stimulates some new hair growth, and works more effectively on the crown and mid- scalp than the frontal area.

The most recently approved treatment uses low-level red laser light which stimulates hair follicles. The treatment requires use every other day for a twenty-five minute period and helps to improve the strength and appearance of hair as well as hair growth.
