On average the lifespan of the human hair is approximately 3 to 7 years. Hair that sheds on a daily basis is generally replaced the same day, so keeping around the same amount of hair on the head at any given time.

The average human has around 100,000 hair follicles, blondes have more hair at around 145,000 follicles whilst redheads have the least with around 86,000 follicles.

We shed hair everyday of our lives, that does not necessarily mean the follicle has stopped growing hairs though. On an average day it is common to shed around 60-100 hairs.

Hair loss can be attributed to many factors, a few can be genetic traits, illness, stress, diet, chemical damage , hormone in-balance and pregnancy.

Hair loss does not become obvious until almost 50% of the hair over your head is lost.

The hair shaft is extremely strong and robust, short of actually burning the hair has a long life span, even out of the scalp, it is very resilient to many factors, climate, corrosive chemicals, water.

By the age of 35 years 40% of men are suffering for hair loss, by the age of 80 years 70% of men will be suffering from hair loss.

In America alone it is thought men spend over 3.5 billion dollars a year trying to treat hair loss.
